Parents,
I gave each student one of our history JINGLES to memorize for the graduation ceremony on May 13th. If they have trouble memorizing it, they can write it on a note card and read it during the ceremony. The entire 5th grade will be performing the Jingles together as they tell y'all how much they have learned this year. Thank you for helping them memorize this, and for making sure they have all their lines memorized by next Tuesday for our skit:). We have so many fun things going on over the next two weeks! I am missing them already!!! Love, Mrs. B.

Dear Parents,
This Tuesday and Thursday AM the students will be taking the Classic Learning Test (CLT) which is similar to the STAR test. I always provide peppermint (Double Mint) gum or starlight mints for my students to chew or suck on while testing because peppermint is known for keeping the brain awake and energized. I have also asked them ALL to bring in a water bottle next week, so they can feed their brain throughout the test. In addition, I told them they could bring a pillow to sit on and slippers or Crocs to change into once in the classroom so they are comfy. If your student cannot have gum or a peppermint candy, please send in something similar they can quietly suck on during the test. I find this always motivates the students to do their best and adds a little fun to a "not so fun" task. Also, it is very important that they eat a healthy breakfast before school this week even if they don't normally eat breakfast.
Please emphasize that it is important to do their very best on the test in order to show what they know and measure their academic growth from year to year. Your students are so smart, and they have learned so much this year. They are ready to show off their skills by doing their Best on the Test.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask:)
Mrs. B.

A Day of Sunshine
By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Whereon shall no man work, but play;
Whereon it is enough for me,
Not to be doing, but to be!
Through every fibre of my brain,
Through every nerve, through every vein,
I feel the electric thrill, the touch
Of life, that seems almost too much.
I hear the wind among the trees
Playing celestial symphonies;
I see the branches downward bent,
Like keys of some great instrument.
And over me unrolls on high
The splendid scenery of the sky,
Where through a sapphire sea the sun
Sails like a golden galleon,
Towards yonder cloud-land in the West,
Towards yonder Islands of the Blest,
Whose steep sierra far uplifts
Its craggy summits white with drifts.
Blow, winds! and waft through all the rooms
The snow-flakes of the cherry-blooms!
Blow, winds! and bend within my reach
The fiery blossoms of the peach!
O Life and Love! O happy throng
Of thoughts, whose only speech is song!
O heart of man! canst thou not be
Blithe as the air is, and as free?
